The Providence Charitable Foundation for premature babies and their families was established in 2018 by the parents of a premature baby. The founders' difficult personal history served as the basis for its emergence.
The mission of the foundation is to save the vision of premature babies and improve the quality of life of their families. Many children born prematurely are threatened by retinopathy, an insidious disease that leads to blindness. In the fight against this disease, the Foundation pays special attention to early diagnosis and coordination of the treatment process, attracting the best ophthalmologists. In addition, financial support is provided to families for necessary surgeries and subsequent rehabilitation.
Restoring the health of a premature baby is a complex process that requires considerable efforts on the part of parents. The Foundation provides them with information and psychological support. The Foundation’s coordinators, being parents of premature babies themselves, have invaluable experience in overcoming such difficulties.
An important part of the Foundation’s activities is cooperation with the public, medical institutions and state authorities. The goal of this cooperation is to create and disseminate a system of prompt diagnosis and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity throughout Russia, so that every child has access to quality medical care.
Over the two years of its existence, the foundation has achieved significant success: it has paid for surgeries for almost one hundred children, published two books for parents, organized psychological courses and creative competitions for visually impaired children, and attracted dozens of volunteers to work with children with disabilities.
Every year about 100 thousand premature babies are born in Russia. The work of the Providence Foundation is important and necessary, because it gives every baby a chance to see the world with their own eyes.
