Foundation’s
Annual Report
children must live 2022

It was a very difficult year. It stormed everywhere: military conflicts, energy crisis, food shortage…
But if in most countries people are faced with a decline in the quality of life for the first time for many years, then in the slums of Africa it has practically not decreased. Because it’s already the bottom! At the bottom of civilization, outside of its main benefits, people live for generations.
Therefore, we had as much work as always, but a lot has been done this year.

Foundation’s
Annual Report
children must live 2022

The work of the Children Must Live foundation in 2023
was carried out in three main directions:

I. Education

Our undisputed flagship project was Tabor School, a bright and joyful oasis of childhood in the middle of a desert of poverty and despair.
he school has grown over the years
there are 4 classes in it now
103 (+ 43) students study here
The life of schoolchildren has changed immensely. The classrooms have become cozier, the kitchen and toilets cleaner. Teachers' tables and desks appeared in all classrooms; bookcases filled with books. Our first volunteers helped a lot with our school library.
We printed branded diaries for all our students! In Kenya, the logo of the educational institution must be on the cover.
The teaching staff of the school was staffed with professional teachers over the year — all four of our teachers have a certificate for educational activities. This is a rarity in Kibera slum.
We also hired a social worker. Our Evans Auma knows about every child. He knows his parents, the traits of his character and creative abilities, he is aware of kid’s family problems.
We released the children from the playing group. And they entered Grade One. The spectacle was incredible! There were our students in rented academic caps and gowns, proud parents and satisfied teachers with a stack of commendations!
At the end of the school year, we held a “first step graduation”
But no matter how much our children like to learn the most interesting thing still happened outside the classes.
Out of school classrooms, we taught children to be … children! Curious, mischievous, wide-eyed and open-hearted!
On June 1, we celebrated Children’s Day at school!
1 июня мы отпраздновали в школе День защиты детей!
This year we have introduced a tradition of celebrating the school-wide Birthday Day
The children of the slums had never celebrated their birthdays and never received gifts before.
We all together celebrated the first birthday of Tabor School and took the children to the first school excursion in their lives
They went to their first ever zoo, where they stood for a long time at the enclosures with "animals from the book", stroked the shell of turtles and were touched by monkeys.

But the event of the year was, no doubt, the celebration of Christmas. For the first time in their lives Tabor schoolchildren wrote letters to Santa. And could not believe that a kind wizard would bring them their drown dreams. But he did!
He brought everything! Trucks and dolls, and a toy synthesiser! And even ice cream! — "So sweet and so cold!" And after the holiday at school, he took the children to the kids park! "It was scary to take off! Very scary! And very high! But then we all laughed and jumped on the trampoline even above our heads!"
Helping children "Jump over their heads" and get out of the slums is what our school has been working for all this year. And the results make us happy

II. Social help

…As part of the implementation of the social program, the Foundation regularly helped the Shelter Children’s Social Center, where 160 children and adolescents with difficult fates live. They are street children, drug addicts, victims of violence and military conflicts.

Our foundation fully provided the Shelter farm with seeds and seedlings of plants, as well as fertilizers, thanks to which this year the shelter gathered a wonderful crop of tomatoes, onions, cabbage and other vegetables.
This year, we also implemented the Tire Sandals project, collecting and donating hundreds of pairs of sandals made of used car tires to children in the desert region of Turkana. Shoes in the desert go after food and water, and we have been very happy to contribute to the health of the kids feet in several Turkana communities.
ЖИТЕЛИ ТУРКАНА
During the year, Children Must Live also organized festive dinners at the Lili Education School, regularly supported partner projects, in particular the Akadius Murila and Antipa Pishoy schools in the Dagoretti slum area. On Christmas Eve, the children of these schools received sports equipment, creative kits, children’s books and sweet gifts.

III. Healthcare

These four were the main activities implemented by the foundation in 2022 as part of the No Pain project
at Table School were held
3 mobile clinics
of school first-aid kits was realised
monthly replenishment
for sickle cell anemia for four children of the school were done
tests
as a biologically active food supplement to increase children's immunity was used in Tabor School menu
moringa solution
These four were the main activities implemented by the foundation in 2022 as part of the No Pain project.
But the main achievement in this direction was our readiness to construct a first aid centre in the Shelter. The center will provide free medical care to residents of the Shelter and the Maasai tribe living in the neighborhood.
All preparatory work has been done and money for the first stage of work have been found. We start of construction in January, 2023.
Well, in addition to figures and facts, our own eyes tell us about progress in our work. Cheerful, excited and active children washing their hands regularly are perhaps one of the main indicators of changes in their life quality which we continue improving.
…are ambitious:
Plans for 2023...
  • to build a medical center,
  • to help Tabor School get the education certificate
  • to open …one more school

– these are our minimum for the next year)

Many thanks to the old year and to everyone who has become our friend and helper. Let’s move on to 2023!

Best wishes,
Children Must Live team.

Всегда рады вашему соучастию!
