Why we help Family Support Foundation «The only life»
In Russian philanthropy, this fund has occupied an almost unoccupied niche – help families in difficult life situations. It supports very young mothers, single mothers with many children, children who have lost parental care, parents who have lost their homes, families with extremely low incomes. These categories of people can be described this way:
«There is a family living somewhere in a suburb. There are a lot of children in the family. Some of the kids were taken to the shelter... Either there is a father or not. If there is – he drinks for sure. These children are untidy dressed and eat something disgusting. The mother is every now and then pregnant. The grandmother is old and sick. They have no work and no support. Benefits are very low. But somehow these people live…»

What the Fund does
There are 3 directions of work:
The 1st one is regular help families facing serious life difficulties. Fund employees and volunteers deliver food and clothes for children to the families, help with medicines, do the repairs in apartments, buy beds and desks. They also send kids New Year's gifts.
The 2nd direction is private shelters support. There are 5 shelters.
The 3rd direction is the most difficult but perspective – work with asocial parents, help with finding a way out of the «cycle of helplessness».
